The Firecracker Plant or “Russelia equisetiformis” is one of the hardiest plants in Southwest Florida. Its continuous red, tubular blooms remain throughout the year and attract butterflies and hummingbirds. The Firecracker is also very salt-tolerant and works well in coastal communities. Its stems have a wispy character, giving it a very natural cascading appearance. This scarlet stunner needs space to grow and propagate so landscape placement is important. The only maintenance required is selectively removing stems for a neater look. The Firecracker is one of the best performing plants for enduring color in your garden.
